HIV/AIDS Program Manager



Darius C.  Lightsey began his career in Public Health in 2011 as a volunteer with the Minority Alliance for Advocating Community Awareness and Action, Inc. (MAACA).   In 2014, he began working as a Ryan White Medical Case Manager for Bond Community Health Center in Tallahassee, FL. Darius thrived in this environment and was instrumental not only in Case Management but also in local outreach and testing events.  He was instrumental in establishing an open forum meeting entitled “My Life Matters” which addressed Stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, Religion, Abuse, and other social/behavioral/emotional issues that contributed to negative messaging surrounding HIV.
Darius then went on to work in the HIV/AIDS Section of the Florida Department of Health as a Community Programs Coordinator.  He was responsible for planning, evaluating, and monitoring patient care related services funded by the Ryan White Part B grant. He worked closely with HIV/AIDS Program Coordinators and Consumer Advisory Groups throughout the State. Darius was tasked to revise the state’s long standing Ryan White Part B Case Management Guidelines and began the process of reviving the Part B Case Management Workgroup.
Darius currently serves as the HIV/AIDS Program Manager for the Pinellas County Health Department overseeing Pinellas and Pasco County HIV/AIDS program operations and is directly responsible for managing the Lead Agency staff for Area 5/6/14, Linkage, and ADAP programs in Pinellas County.
Additionally, Darius is the programmatic operations manager for Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Initiative Darius has served as the chair for the Pinellas Planning Partnership (PPP), a non-profit organization designed to facilitate collaboration between HIV/AIDS service organizations in Pinellas County.
Additionally, Darius has several years of experience working in the Mental Health Field in Inpatient hospitalization settings. His desire is to see the end of the spread of HIV and everyone living their best lives.
